Metcards (Melbourne Public Transport Tickets)
Buying the right Metcard
Most fares are based on three zones. For your journey, simply select the zone/s you will be travelling in. For example, travelling from Frankston to the city requires a Zone 1+2+3 Metcard, while St Albans to Prahran requires a Zone 1+2 Metcard.

Please note: On 4 March 2007, the existing three zone ticketing system will be reduced to just two zones. The new, larger Zone 2 will include the outer areas of Melbourne that were previously in Zone 3.
Customers who have been travelling on a Zone 2+3 ticket, will only need to buy Zone 2. Customers who have been travelling on a Zone 1+2+3 ticket will only need to buy Zone 1+2.
Customers are encouraged to use any unused Zone 3 tickets before 3 March 2007.
